Peaking at number six on theBillboard 200, the album was also well received by music critics.The album spawned five singles: "Would?", "Them Bones ", "Angry Chair ", "Rooster ", and "Down In The Hole ". The songs on the album focused on depression, anger, anti-social behavior, drug use (primarily heroin), war, death, and other emotionally charged topics. Dirt is revered by the band and their fans as the album that defined the signature "Alice" sound.
